Funerals:
Harp music is the perfect soothing addition to a funeral ceremony, or to the reception afterwards.
In the old Irish and Scottish traditions, the harp was used to play elegant, subtle and complex laments (called in Gaelic cumha). These meditative yet powerful compositions commemorated the deceased, and celebrated their life in music.
I can play a varied selection of these laments, dating from medieval to the 18th century. Titles include Cumha Iarla Wigton (Lament for the Earl of Wigtown), one of the most moving and uplifting elegies I have heard, or Flowers of the Forest played from the earliest setting (Skene ms c.1620)
I am happy to be contacted at short notice for funeral enquiries. If it is possible, I will reschedule other work to accomodate your needs.
