Learn to play the old Irish & Scottish harp music in friendly and encouraging one-to-one private lessons.
Students of all ages, from children to retired adults, are welcome to come for regular clarsach lessons in St Andrews. I also am in Edinburgh once a month. Contact me for a taster session!
Online video lessons are a genuine alternative to real-life private lessons. Learn one-to-one, in the comfort of your own home, wherever in the world you live. Run on the same format, and at the same rates, as a weekly private lesson here in St Andrews, these are an exciting new way to develop your harp playing. All you need are a webcam, microphone, and broadband connected to your computer, and the Skype software set up. Contact me for more info or for a trial session. Or read a review!
I teach a weekly class in Dundee at the Wighton Heritage Centre, Central Library, DD1 1DB. Saturday, 2.00-3.30pm, £5 / £2.50 under 25s. Harps are provided.
Visitors from further afield are always welcome. For more information about visiting St Andrews, accommodation, and activities available, please view the visiting page.
The ancient harp traditions of Scotland and Ireland are rich and extensive. I enjoy teaching all aspects of the tradition, whether playing techniques, history and anecdotes, aesthetics, or how the oral traditions are preserved in manuscripts. Whether you wish to play, or just to listen and find out more about the tradition, I am happy to hear from you.
